At Land Information Freehold Education (LIFE) Trust, the Toi Whakapapa programme supports people to reconnect with whakapapa, identity, and land through personal storytelling and creative practice. For Work and Income clients living with the effects of trauma, this programme offers a safe and culturally grounded pathway toward healing and self-determination.

This volunteer opportunity is suited to a qualified art therapist able to facilitate creative sessions within the Toi Whakapapa Educational Programme, enabling clients to explore identity and whakapapa through visual media in a trauma-informed and mana-enhancing way. Clinical training in art therapy and an ability to integrate therapeutic practice with kaupapa Māori values are essential. Sessions are on Wednesdays from 11am to 1pm, with additional independent work.

What you'll bring:
• Recognised art therapy qualifications and clinical practice experience
• Experience working with trauma, identity, and cultural wellbeing
• Ability to embed kaupapa Māori values into therapeutic practice

You might be a great fit if you are:
• Culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and clinically skilled
• Passionate about Māori identity, healing, and community empowerment
• Collaborative and available on Wednesday mornings

Training Provided: Programme context and kaupapa orientation provided by the LIFE Trust team.
