The Free Store is Wellington's community food redistribution service, collecting surplus food from local eateries and getting it to people who need it. Volunteer drivers are the backbone of the operation, making daily food rescue runs across the city possible.

This volunteer opportunity involves driving The Free Store's van to the airport, Miramar, Kelburn, and other set locations around Wellington, Monday to Friday from 1:30pm to 5:00pm, collecting surplus food and returning it to the store for redistribution. A full NZ driver's licence is required, and volunteers should be responsible, reliable, and calm under pressure.

What you'll bring:
• A current, full NZ driver's licence
• Reliability and responsibility as a driver in Wellington traffic
• A calm, focused approach to time-sensitive food collection runs

You might be a great fit if you are:
• A confident and safe driver in urban environments
• Punctual, dependable, and motivated by the mission
• Happy to work as part of a small, close-knit team

Training Provided: Route familiarisation and van orientation provided.
