The Free Store in Wellington is on a mission to freely redistribute surplus food from local eateries to those who need it, tackling the paradox of food waste and food insecurity in the same breath. Wellington's cafes and restaurants generate quality surplus food every day, and Trolley Heroes make that collection possible.

This volunteer opportunity involves meeting at The Free Store on Willis Street around 2:45pm on weekdays (excluding public holidays), walking to nearby eateries to collect surplus food on trolleys, and returning them to the store for redistribution. This is a casual role so volunteers can join as often or as little as suits them. Volunteers must be able to walk and push a trolley, and first-time volunteers are paired with an experienced team member.
