Small Moments Meaningful Connections
Wellington
Te Hopai Trust Hospital has provided compassionate care for the aged and vulnerable in Wellington since 1888, believing that every person deserves to feel seen, valued, and connected. Small moments of genuine human connection make an enormous difference in a residential care environment.
This volunteer opportunity involves visiting residents at Te Hopai Hospital in Newtown for unstructured, warm one-on-one or small group time: sharing conversation, listening to their stories, looking at family photos together, or simply sitting in companionable silence. Visits take place at a frequency and timing that suits both the volunteer and the resident.
What you'll bring:
• Warmth, patience, and a genuine interest in older people and their stories
• Comfort being present without a structured agenda
• Reliability and consistency in your visits
You might be a great fit if you are:
• A natural listener who makes people feel at ease
• Compassionate, unhurried, and fully present
• Motivated by making a quiet but meaningful difference
Training Provided: Details to be confirmed with the organisation.
