Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley is passionate about ensuring that everyone in Aotearoa, regardless of financial means, has genuine access to justice and legal equality. Volunteer lawyers are the backbone of the free legal advice sessions in Wellington, contributing directly to upholding community mana and supporting social change.
This volunteer opportunity involves providing free legal advice at drop-in sessions in Wellington, across general law or specialist areas. Sessions run on Monday (general/benefits law, 12 to 2 pm), Tuesday (employment law, 5 to 7 pm), and Wednesday (general law, 12 to 2 pm). Lawyers with experience in insurance, ACC, tenancy, criminal law, or land transport are especially welcome. A minimum one-year commitment is requested.
What you'll bring:
• Current New Zealand practising certificate (or eligible for one)
• Experience in any non-commercial area of law
• Specialist experience in employment, benefits, insurance, ACC, tenancy, criminal law, or land transport is an advantage
