Volunteer Hutt
Te Awa Kairangi
Volunteer Hutt supports the diverse communities of Hutt Valley by strengthening the capacity and capability of community and voluntary organisations while championing the value of volunteering.
About Volunteer Hutt | Te Awa Kairangi
As the only organisation in the Hutt Valley dedicated to both volunteerism and community sector development, Volunteer Hutt works alongside local groups to build stronger, more connected communities.
Led by Marcia Skinnon as a Kaupapa Māori organisation, Volunteer Hutt is committed to creating culturally safe and inclusive spaces that honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The exploration of tūao is central to our mahi, informing the way we support organisations, foster partnerships, and celebrate the contributions of tangata whenua and volunteers alike.
Through volunteer recruitment, professional development, organisational support, and community advocacy, we help local organisations thrive. Initiatives such as Te Aka Tūao demonstrate our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and strengthening community engagement across the Hutt Valley.
“Volunteer Hutt are very responsive to our requests for support, whether it is to have a chat about our needs or to list an opportunity. Their proactive approach means that I don't lose sight of related tasks.”
